5 steps (and 1 ingredient) for a clean washing machine

By on April 13, 2017

You use your washing machine to clean your clothes — but do you clean your washing machine?
Soap reside and minerals can build up inside, leaving clothes feeling less than clean.
It’s a good idea to clean your washing machine annually (more often if you regularly wash grungy items).
And all it takes is one ingredient: white vinegar.
It’s easy to do.
1. Open the lid or door to your washer and make sure all clothing is removed.
2. Pour one quart of white vinegar into the same place where you typically add laundry detergent.
3. Select the hottest water setting to kill any lingering bacteria. Also, choose the longest cycle available.
4. Allow your washing machine to run a complete, empty cycle.
5. Using a damp cloth, wipe down the lid and knobs.
